A greenhouse of strawberries has been badly damaged last night in Bláskógabygð. The greenhouse measures approximately 2,000 square meters and houses approximately 18,200 strawberries.
“There won’t be any berries until at least next year”, noted Hólmfríður Geirsdóttir, horticulturist and owner of Strawberry Land in Bláskógabyggð.
During the summer, his greenhouse produces 1,000 to 1,500 kg of strawberries per week. Storm damage is still difficult to estimate, but it looks like the greenhouse will be out of work for at least a season.
