Portland-based investment firm Equilibrium Capital has appointed Godfrey Dol to join its new Singapore office as director of the company’s controlled environment food team.
Equilibrium Capital is an investment company that focuses solely on sustainable investments, with projects ranging from converting agricultural waste to biogas to greenhouses.
Dol has decades of experience in the greenhouse industry and has worked in Europe, Asia Pacific, Middle East and North America. He has worked for multinational companies such as BayWa, The Costa Group and Village Farms.
He will join Equilibrium Capital in Singapore after stints in Kazakhstan and Mexico, and will work on the company’s greenhouse projects in the region.
Environmentally controlled agriculture in greenhouses mitigates the risks of heat, drought, short growing seasons, depleted soils and insect infestations, uses 90% less water and can be 30 times more productive than the outer fields, according to Equilibrium data.
Dol is teaming up with John Baker, Director and Strategic Head of Equilibrium for Asia, who joined the company as Singapore-based first employee last year.
A published author, Dol wrote the book, The semi-closed greenhousee, earlier this year.
